Meet The Team!

PTC would be nothing without the dedicated hands behind the scenes making magic happen every day. Get ready to meet the magicians!

Co-owner & Color Coordinator:

Lara Mohr (She/they)

Lara can often be found in store wearing bright colors, bandanas, and glasses of many fun shapes, sizes, and designs. She is also our resident wielder of power tools and store-fixer-upper.

Lara Mohr found her way to Pretty Tasty just before the pandemic, and proceeded to CRUSH it in the kitchen making cakes, single-handedly filling orders while simultaneously managing and navigating the business through an unprecedented situation. She emerged out the other side tired, covered in frosting, but victorious all the same. In 2021, she purchased shares in the company, realizing that she couldn’t possibly see herself working anywhere else because PTC had become home.

Bolstered by years in the baking industry and armed with several degrees in art, design, and photography, Lara specializes in pushing the business and the PTC brand forward in new and creative directions. She is constantly seeking ways to improve the space and the lives of the employees within, as well as the experience our customers have with us. She is one of a kind!

Goal in life: To make delicious food for everyone to enjoy!

Personal quote: “No, trust me. I can DIY it.”

Cake Decorator & Fondant F(R)iend

Cinzia (They/Them)

Cinzia’s love for art touches every aspect of their life, in the whimsical outfits they wear, their impressive array of tattoos and piercings, and their brightly colored hair.

With oodles of experience in art and design — ever since they learned to hold a crayon — and a love for baking for friends and family, Cinzia took a chance applying for a job at Pretty Tasty to work the register. Within a matter of months, they were decorating cupcakes and cakes, an unstoppable force of creativity and design. With a background in sculpture, they have always enjoyed making three-dimensional art, and have been able to apply those talents to things like fondant work, buttercream transfers, and piping flowers. From ceramics to fondant to chocolate, they’ve found another medium that resonates with them.

Cinzia’s style of cake decorating is whimsical, cinematic, audacious, and fun! They enjoy any cakes that use a lot of bright colors, patterns, textures, and glitter. Sometimes, especially during Halloween, their designs border on creepy, so if you’re a horror fan or looking for a spooky Halloween cake, they’ve got you covered!

When not kicking butt at the bakery, Cinzia spends time experimenting with new recipes, miniature art projects, and roller skating around Philadelphia with their friends and partner.

Goal in Life: To bring like-minded people together through art and food!

Personal Quote: “Gotta go check my Listy List!”

Co-owner, Events manager, & resident Tired dad:

Samson Talmadge (He/Him)

Sam, ever the balance to Lara’s bright colors, is most often wearing black or shades of grey with the occasional dash of electric green and crimson. Despite his myriad of tattoos, gauges, and general alternative sense of style, his favorite cakes to decorate are wedding cakes and anything with flowers and pastel colors.

Sam has 12+ years of experience in the food industry designing dessert menus for fine dining restaurants in Rhode Island, Boston, and Philadelphia, as well as a bachelor's degree in Food Service Management from Johnson & Wales University, RI. He joined the Pretty Tasty crew in March of 2021, and quickly clicked with Lara and the team.

Sam started cake decorating when he was 13 years old, learning from Wilton decorating classes after school and practicing on the weekends, much to the delight of his family, who enjoyed the unlimited access to cake experiments. He decorated cakes throughout high school before going off to J&W to expand his knowledge. Returning to cake decorating after several hard but rewarding years in the restaurant industry was a warm homecoming unlike any other, and he shook off the rust and got back to work, feeling like he’d finally found the place he was meant to be.

It didn’t take long for Sam’s business brain to kick on. Not long after joining the crew, he started poking at the PTC recipes, looking to streamline and build upon the solid foundation already laid by Lara. After a year and a half of working at PTC, Sam realized he cared far too much about the clientele and the business to ever separate himself from it.

Goal in Life: Create a work environment where people feel free to express themselves and have the opportunity to do what they love.

Personal Quote: “Coffee would not be amiss in the bakery today.”

Cake Decorator & Cookie sorcerer

Burney (She/They)

Burney’s love of puns can be heard almost every day within the bakery walls. Her favorite colors are earth tones, and she is our resident front of house decorator.

Burney joined the bakery in 2022 after moving to Philadelphia from Los Angeles with her family. A true midwest native, you will hear her calls of “Ope, sorry” ringing throughout the bakery. After 15 years of retail and design experience, a bachelor’s of geology, and 4 years of running an awesome home baking business, Burney took a chance applying for a professional position and was immediately welcomed with open arms onto the PTC crew. With the sheer amount of raw talent she brings to the table, there was never any question about how quickly she would excel with the right opportunity.

Stylistically, Burney’s cakes are organic, meticulous, and chic. She loves all the little details and strategically placed sprinkles. Her favorite things to make are hand-painted shortbread cookies, intricate floral cakes, and anything covered in chocolate ganache.

Goal in Life: Create pretty things that make people happy.

Personal Quote: “You can always fix that s**t with sprinkles.”

Resident Bakery Skeleton

Skelleytor (They/Them)

Skelleytor came to us from Lara’s home one Halloween and simply hasn’t left the bakery since. You can find them in the back closet of the bakery on most days, except in the months of October, November, and December, where you can meet them out front dutifully greeting customers with an award-winning smile!

Skellytor does not decorate cakes or cupcakes, but they are always an enthusiastic cheerleader to the team.
